1. About RugWeather

RugWeather is a web application that provides weather-based horse rugging recommendations using the location, horse profile and forecast information available to the app.

In these terms, “RugWeather”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the RugWeather service. “You” means the person using the app.

2. Important equine welfare disclaimer

RugWeather is a decision-support tool only. It does not replace your own judgement, regular horse checks, veterinary advice, yard rules or professional equine care.

• Recommendations are based on weather data, forecast accuracy and the horse details you provide.
• Weather forecasts can be wrong, delayed or unavailable.
• Rugging decisions depend on many real-world factors RugWeather may not know, including shelter, turnout, coat condition, age, body condition, breed/type, health, workload and your horse’s normal behaviour.
• You remain responsible for checking your horse and making the final decision.
• If your horse appears unwell, cold, overheated, distressed, sweating, shivering or uncomfortable, seek appropriate professional advice.

3. Accounts

You need an account to use personalised RugWeather features. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login details secure.

• You are responsible for activity on your account.
• You must not try to access another user’s account or interfere with the service.
• We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, attempt to bypass payment limits or breach these terms.

4. Horse profiles and uploaded images

You can add horse profiles and upload horse images. You are responsible for the information and images you upload.

• Only upload images you have the right to use.
• Do not upload unlawful, abusive, offensive or irrelevant content.
• Uploaded images may be stored so they can be shown in your account.
• If you delete your account, we will aim to remove associated profile data and uploaded images, subject to backups, legal obligations and technical limitations.

5. Free and Premium plans

RugWeather may offer both free and paid features. Premium features may include additional horse profiles, deeper weather insight and other paid functionality shown in the app.

• The Premium price is shown before checkout.
• Premium subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.
• Payments, card details, invoices and cancellation are handled through Stripe.
• We do not store your full card details on RugWeather servers.
• If you cancel a subscription, Premium access normally remains active until the end of the paid billing period.
• We may change Premium features or pricing in the future. Where required, we will give appropriate notice before changes affect existing subscribers.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe Billing Portal from your RugWeather account settings.

• Cancellation stops future renewals. It does not normally remove access already paid for during the current billing period.
• Refunds are considered case by case unless required by law.
• If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact support@rugweather.co.uk.
• Nothing in these terms affects any legal consumer rights you may have.

7. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep RugWeather available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. The app depends on third-party services including hosting, weather data, payment processing and database providers.

• The dashboard may be unavailable or incomplete if weather data cannot be fetched.
• We may update, improve, suspend or remove features as the service develops.
• We may perform maintenance or changes without notice where needed.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use RugWeather for unlawful purposes;
• attempt to hack, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or disrupt the service;
• misuse subscriptions, payment flows or account limits;
• upload malicious files or content; or
• use RugWeather in a way that harms other users or the service.

9. Intellectual property

RugWeather, including its design, text, code, branding, logos and generated interface, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use the app for personal use, but you must not copy, resell or reproduce the service without permission.

10. Liability

RugWeather is provided as a practical support tool. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by reliance on a recommendation where you have not used your own judgement, checked your horse or accounted for real-world conditions.

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any rights that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Privacy Policy

This section explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it and how it is used.

Data we collect

• Account details, such as your name and email address.
• Login and security information, such as hashed passwords and session data.
• Horse profile information you choose to add, such as name, age, breed, height, clipping status and uploaded horse images.
• Yard or location information you save so weather recommendations can be generated.
• Subscription information, such as Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, Premium status and cancellation state.
• Technical information, such as server logs, errors, IP address, browser/device information and usage events needed to run and protect the service.

How we use your data

• To create and manage your account.
• To provide personalised rugging recommendations.
• To save your horse profiles and yard location.
• To process and manage Premium subscriptions through Stripe.
• To secure the service, prevent abuse and troubleshoot errors.
• To improve RugWeather and understand whether the app is working properly.

Legal basis for processing

We process account, subscription and recommendation data because it is needed to provide the RugWeather service. We may also process limited technical and security data for our legitimate interests in keeping the app secure, reliable and working correctly.

Third-party services

RugWeather uses third-party providers to run the service. These may include:

• Stripe for checkout, billing, invoices, payment management and subscription status.
• OpenWeather for weather forecast data.
• Neon/PostgreSQL for database hosting.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers for running the app, storage, logs and server infrastructure.

We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies and similar technologies

RugWeather uses essential cookies/session storage to keep you logged in and protect the service. We do not currently use advertising cookies.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will aim to delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer needed, subject to legal, security, backup and accounting requirements.

Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain uses of your personal data. You may also have the right to data portability and the right to complain to a data protection authority.

12. Account deletion

You can delete your RugWeather account from the app where this feature is available, or contact us for help. Deleting your account may remove your profile, horse data and uploaded images from the active service, but some information may remain temporarily in backups or records we are required to keep.

Deleting your RugWeather account does not automatically cancel an active Stripe subscription unless the app specifically confirms this. You should cancel any active subscription through the Stripe Billing Portal before deleting your account.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and privacy information as RugWeather changes. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to make users aware of them.

14. Governing law

These terms are intended for users in the United Kingdom and are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory local consumer laws apply differently.
